In a bid to assist in the high increment of 2024 Hajj Fare, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the payment of 50% subsidy of about two million naira increase to all intending pilgrims across the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the Commissioner of religious affairs and societal re-orientation Yakubu Hamza disclosed this during a press conference held at the Bauchi state Government house.

As preparations for the 2024 hajj exercise draws nearer and with the sudden increment in Hajj Fare by the national Hajj Commission Of Nigeria due to inflation and exchange rate, measures have been taken to address the situation and meet the said deadline by the intending pilgrims.

These developments prompted the Bauchi state government to pay the subsidy of fifty percent to each intending pilgrim inorder to enable them perform the spiritual obligation.

Addressing journalists, the State Commissioner of Religious affairs and societal reorientation Yakubu Hamza said the subsidy is part of governor Bala Mohammed’s gesture to assist the intending pilgrims from Bauchi state, given the fact that the hike came suddenly amidst economic hardship.

Also speaking the state executive secretary Muslim Pilgrims welfare board Abdulrahaman Idris explained that only those that deposited the initial amount would benefit from the gesture

The national hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON had earlier annouced that march 28th would be the deadline for intending pilgrims to make their payments attributing the fare increment to the free fall of the naira.
