Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking the creation of 29 additional Local Government Areas in the state.
The proposed new Local Government Areas, listed in Schedule II of the bill, have been forwarded to the Senate Joint Committee on Constitutional Review for further legislative action.
The bill, drafted by the Acting Deputy Clerk of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Musa Yarima, was passed by the Assembly and awaits consideration at the federal level.

If approved by the National Assembly, the bill will lead to consequential amendments to Section 8(5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, providing official recognition for the new administrative areas.
With the creation of the additional 29 Local Government Areas, Bauchi State will have a total of 49 Local Government Areas, which will be the highest in any state in the country, expanding its administrative structure to enhance governance and development across the state.
