The Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Umar, has called on litigants and the general public to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanism to ease the burden on the courts and promote faster dispensation of justice.
Justice Umar was speaking at the official commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year; an event attended by all the judges and magistrates in the state judiciary and the local bar branch

Part of activities for the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year was the commissioning of a modern Magistrates’ Court Complex as part of the Bala Mohammed administration’s efforts to provide a conducive working environment for judges to effectively carry out their judicial responsibilities.
The Chief Judge Rabi Umar expressed confidence that as the new legal year unfolds, the judiciary is adequately prepared for emerging challenges and remains committed to enhancing the administration of justice in the state.

The chief assured that the judicial processes is being strengthened to ensure qualitative justice delivery by blocking all identified leakages within the system.
The Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, who represented the Governor, also committed to sustaining the cordial working relationship among the three arms of government and the continued executive support to enable it operate efficiently.
A total of 3,878 cases were filed at the State High Court during the legal year under review, while the Magistrate Courts handled 3,555 cases, a development the state Chief judge Justice Rabi Talatu Umar attributed to the dedication and teamwork among judges, magistrates, and court staff.
