Bauchi Crime : 300 Level ATBU Student Arrested With Firearms

Bauchi Police Command said it has arrested one Atim Emmanuel 23 years old three Hundred level student of Abubakar Tafawa balewa University Bauchi in possession of a fire arm and cartridge.

According to a press release issued by the command public relations officer Ahmed Wakili, the suspect was arrested with a locally made revolver pistol and a cartridge while coming out of the University campus.

According to the statement, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to have gotten the fire arm from one Zadog who leased it to him for two academic semesters at the rate of twelve thousand Naira (N12,000,00).

The suspect according to the police, confessed to have also acquired the fire arm for his protection and security from criminals when attacked.

The arrest of the suspect is coming at a time the University has been facing series of attacks resulting to the recent killing of one person and a protest that prompted the University management to close down the school as investigation is ongoing to unravel those behind the crimes.

The public relations officer said the commissioner of police Auwal Musa has directed that the suspect be transferred to the state criminal investigation for discrete investigation, to determine and confirm whether he has killed anyone with it after which he will be charged to court.
