The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani Aliyu, has initiated a peace dialogue with traditional and community leaders in Zull-Gandi village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
The intervention comes in response to rising tensions between farmers and herders in the area.
In a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, Ahmed Wakili, the commissioner urged farmers to refrain from planting crops along rocky paths and roadside areas, traditionally used as open grazing routes.
He advised them to evacuate their harvests promptly to avoid clashes when herders begin grazing.
The commissioner also cautioned herders not to allow their livestock to graze on farmland before crops are fully harvested.

Aliyu emphasized that peaceful coexistence is only achievable through mutual cooperation, early communication and adherence to the law.
He warned that anyone caught violating state laws, or inciting violence, will face the full weight of the law.
The commissioner also encouraged traditional rulers to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and unity across farming communities.
