A 17-man committee saddled with the responsibility of protecting the most vulnerable from rape has been inaugurated by the wife of Bauchi State Governor, Aisha Mohammed.
This is coming on the heels of the increasing cases of rape in the state
While inaugurating the members of committee, the Governor’s wife also called on parents to provide adequate care for their children.
The First Lady said that the decision to constitute the committee was born out of the desire to protect the lives of the citizens, coupled with the high rate of violence against women particularly, rape in Bauchi State.
The Chairman of the Committee, Esther Ahmed, and a representative of Human Rights group, Barrister Yusuf Gumau, in an interview with reporters, said success can be achieved, only if government matches the word with action, by implementing the said penalties against the violators.
