In a bid to address rising brain drain in the health sector, the Bauchi State Government has approved a 100 percent salary increase for doctors and health workers, aimed at encouraging them to remain in the state and continue serving the people.
The decision is part of resolutions reached at an extraordinary meeting of the Bauchi State Executive Council, held at the Government House in Bauchi, North-East Nigeria.
The extraordinary executive council meeting presided by Governor Bala Mohammed, is the last council meeting for year 2025, and deliberations focused on sustainable economic growth and development in the state.

The Commissioner for Health and Social Development, Muhammad Sani Dambam, who briefed journalists afterward, disclosed that the council approved an upward review and implementation of a new remuneration structure for health workers, alongside other allowances, with the aim of preventing doctors and health personnel from migrating abroad.
The Commissioner further stated that in order to ensure quality healthcare delivery, a biometric attendance and verification system will be introduced across health facilities in the state.

Also speaking, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Yahuza Adamu, told journalists that the council approved the purchase of modern equipment for the digitisation of state-owned media stations, to enhance quality broadcasting services.
Memos were also presented to the council, seeking ratification and approval for projects aimed at addressing rural road rehabilitation and erosion control in affected communities across the state.
