About 35 boarding schools in Bauchi State have been scrapped.
In a circular released by the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, the decision to scrap the schools followed approval by the state’s Executive Council.
With this development, the following schools in Bogoro, Liman katagum, Duguri, Burra, and Dambam are to be maintained as boarding schools, as well as eight girls boarding secondary schools.

According to the statement, it is an effort by the Bauchi State Government to make education more accessible to its people.
Approval has been given for the immediate transfer of the affected students to other schools.
