Bauchi Government supports Federal Government’s move to Establish Nigeria Forest Security Service

Commander General, Nigeria Forest Security Service, Joshua Osatimehin meets over 3000 Volunteer Guards in Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed support for the Federal Government’s move to Establish Nigeria Forest Security services (NFSS) saying the initiative will no doubt complement efforts of existing security agencies in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality bedeviling the Nation.

The Governor mentioned this during a one day sensitisation visit by the Commander General of the Nigerian Forest Security Services for the North East States Joshua Osatimehin.

Over three thousand Volunteers for the Nigeria Forest Security Services from Six states in the North East attended the sensitization programme in Bauchi state.

This development of engaging them into National Security Architecture aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to securing the Nation’s forests, particularly in the North-West to combat kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism. They are expected to go into the Nation’s forests and secure them against crimes.

Arriving at the Bauchi state Command, the Commander General inspected the Guards, before proceeding to address the Personnels on waiting.

According to Joshua Osatimehin Commander General, Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) they are committed to sensitizing Nigeria’s forests against criminal activities through collaboration with other lSecurity Agencies leveraging their unique expertise in forest security.

Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo said already Bauchi state Government has been vocal about the need for collaboration between the Federal, State, and local Governments to tackle insecurity, saying already he has ordered over 2,000 Personnel to be recruited.

He added that ttr Government has commenced building of a befitting office structure for the Personnel.

As the bill to establish the Nigeria forest security services awaits the Nigeria President’s assent, the volunteered Personnel here are optimistic to contribute their quota in keeping Nigeria safe from the prevailing disturbing insecurity .
