In a bid to address the lingering salary arrears and other mismanagement of government resources in the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the Bauchi State Government has organized a two-day training on salary administration in the Northeastern state.

The Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration has since inception been battling with the issues of ghost workers and other related management lapses in the State civil service, necessitating the State government organizing various fora, aimed at having clear data of the entire workforce.

Bauchi State Head of Civil Service, Yahuza Adamu and the State’s Accountant General, Saidu Abubakar say, the training seeks to equip the newly appointed government officials with clear knowledge and understanding of how to assist the government in sanitizing both the nominal and payroll systems in their respective MDAs.

Bauchi State Governor, represented by his Deputy, Auwal Jatau, says people are retiring day by day, but the payroll keeps increasing, expressing optimism that with the training, the lingering salary and other allowance issues would be a thing of the past, and pave the way for employing teaming new graduates to fill in the existing vacancies.

The participants, consisting of Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and other heads of MDAs, are expected to come up with an implementable and lasting solution to the problem of ghost workers, that will help the government block the perceived financial leakages in the system.
