Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has again urged President Bola Tinubu to save some Governors from what he terms “High Blood Pressure”, and to holistically look into some national initiatives, especially the proposed National Tax Reform, as it will affect the economic growth of many States.
The Governor made the call during the opening session of the routine State Executive Council meeting in Bauchi.
Presiding over the Council session, Governor Mohammed lamented some of the policies and programmes being introduced by the Federal Government, which, according to him, have concomitant implications for many States, particularly the proposed National Tax Reform Bill, among others, calling on his Council members to brace up and wear their thinking caps in making the State better.
He explained that the policies of the Federal government are serving as eye openers to the most affected States to have other sources of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and not to overdepend on federal allocations.
During the meeting, various memos were ratified and approved by the council.
They included the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme for the settlement of gratuities owed to retired civil servants in the State, among others.
