Politicians and wealthy individuals in the country have been urged to used various forms of empowerment programmes as tools to fight poverty and insecurity in the society.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed made the call during the launch of his administration’s economic empowerment programme.

Tagged” Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme” KEEP, the intervention initiated by the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed is to among other things empower people with various trades to enable them become self-reliant.
Launching the programme in Bauchi Local Government Area which is the last to be covered by the Governor, items such as motor vehicles, motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines as well as cash among others are usually presented.
Governor Mohammed said the best way to tackle the current rising poverty and insecurity in Nigeria is for government, politicians and wealthy individuals to empower the people to enable them become self-reliant.
Considering the high level of unemployment in the society, the Governor said his administration will scale up the programme for job creation and Youth empowerment, charging the beneficiaries to make the best use of the items.
Stakeholders from Bauchi Local Government Area commended the Governor for executing many developmental projects in the areas and the empowerment programme which they noted will go a long way in assisting the people.
