In a bid to strengthen the fight against corrupt practices and mismanagement of public funds, especially among government officials, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has signed into law a bill establishing the State Independent Public Complaints And Accountability Commission.
The Governor while signing the bill, directed the commission to swing into action with immediate effect.
He said it is geared towards speedy reduction of financial fraud and mismanagement of public funds thereby enforcing discipline, accountability as well as transparency especially among government officials.
Presenting the bill, the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman Commended the Governor for his doggedness in fighting corruption and other financial crimes in the state, saying the anti corruption law will help in protecting the state’s resources from mismanagement and economic sabotage.

The speaker said with the recent involvement of some senior government officials in funds diversion and breach of trust, appropriate sanctions should be applied to them without fear or favour.
The State Independent Public Complaints and Accountability Commission is replacing the previously established state anti-corrution agency.
