Bauchi State Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund, (UNICEF), have reaffirmed their commitment to improving children’s and families’ development, with special attention to health, education and nutrition for a healthy society.
The assurance was made during the UNICEF Country Representative’s visit to Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House in Bauchi State, Northeast Nigeria.
The visit, led by UNICEF Country Representative, Mrs Wafaa Saeed Abdullatif, aims, among other things, to appreciate the governor’s commitment to prompt payment of state counterpart funding, particularly towards addressing child malnutrition, and out-of-school children in the state, and calls on others to emulate the effort.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, described the visit as a clear indication of development partners’ trust in his administration.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to deepen collaboration with UNICEF, noting that the agency has been a reliable partner, since the coming of his administration in 2019, particularly in areas such as immunisation, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, and education, among others.

The governor gave an account of the recent interventions made by the state, including counterpart funding of over ₦1.2 billion for healthcare, recruitment of additional medical staff, and expansion of health infrastructure across rural communities.
The Country Representative’s visit signals a shared vision for sustainable development, as Governor Bala, assured UNICEF of his administration’s continued commitment to education, health, and social services, for the growth and development of the state.
