Bauchi security: House committee on army expresses optimism in military’s ability to surmount challenges

The Chairman House of Representatives committee On Nigerian Army, Abdulrazak Namdas, has said that the Nigerian Army is battle-ready to surmount the various security challenges across the country.

He was speaking when members of the committee visited Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, as part of the committee’s oversight functions.

As part of its legislative duty, the House of Representatives Committee on Army was in Bauchi to visit formations in the state.

They included the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps and the Nigerian Army Armoured School, as well as the 33 Artillery Brigade, where they commended the sophisticated equipment on ground and the man power.

The committee chairman, Abdulrazak Namdas, said they are hopeful that the Nigerian army is ready to end the fight against insurgency and banditry among others, that are affecting both the human and economic development of the nation.

While appreciating the committee members for their commitment in proper representation, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, enjoined the lawmakers to improve on not only equipment, but human capital, as well as personnel welfare, so as to enable the military discharge their constitutional obligation effectively.

As the army are known to protect the territorial integrity of the country, Bauchi Governor urged the president to help relocate the current Bauchi Army Barracks which has been surrounded by civilians, due to the rise in population.
