In an effort to tackle the infrastructure deficit in rural communities, the Bauchi State Government has approved the securing of N5 billion soft loan to facilitate the implementation of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP across the State.
The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Faruq Mustapha while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Bauchi.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed, the Commissioner highlighted that over 400 kilometres of rural access roads have been identified for urgent intervention which necessitated the decision to secure the loan.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Maiwada Bello, revealed that the Council has approved the engagement of foreign investors for the exploration of the state’s abundant natural resources.
This initiative according to him would fastrack economic growth and development of the state
The Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Kawule and his counterpart for Works and Transport, Professor Titus Ketkukah also provided updates on approvals granted to their respective ministries during the meeting.
These include reconstruction of the residence of the first civilian Governor of Bauchi State, the late Tatari Ali, as a tribute to his contributions to the state’s development.
