Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has announced plans to appoint new village heads across the state’s 20 emirates as part of efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and promote inclusive governance.
The Governor made this known after a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Bauchi.
The move follows the recent appointment of 13 new emirs and chiefs, including the Zaar Chiefdom, by the state government.

Governor Bala Mohammed said the meeting was convened to outline a transparent and inclusive process for selecting the new village heads, describing the exercise as critical to strengthening grassroots leadership.
He added that nominations submitted by the emirates would be reviewed by relevant authorities, including the Local Government Service Commission.

The Governor also stressed that security and integrity would remain key considerations, warning that persons of questionable character would not be considered for appointment.
