The Bauchi State government has concluded plans to recruit more teachers for its primary and junior secondary schools to boost the quality of basic education in the State.
Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this at the flagged off the distribution of Better Education Service Delivery For All, BESDA, learning materials and the commissioning of the Universal Basic Education Commission/State Universal Basic Education Board intervention projects in Bauchi State on Friday.
Bauchi State has the highest number of out-of-school children in the country.
Lamenting the consistent drop in the number of enrolled school children, the State Commissioner for Education, Aliyu Tilde said the situation calls for a complete overhaul of the system.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, applauded the Commissioner for Education, for identifying the root causes of education backwardness in the state, stressing that his administration is determined to change the narratives with provisions of conducive learning environment and qualified teachers.
He thanked the Universal Basic Education Commission and other stakeholders in the sector for supporting the state with necessary technical assistance to enhance the quality of education in the State.
