Protest has started in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area over the appointment process for the newly established Zaar Chiefdom one of the 13 newly created emirates in Bauchi State.
The protesters, in their numbers, took to the streets on Sunday evening in a peaceful demonstration, blocking the major highway linking Bauchi Town to Plateau State.
The Zaar ethnic group had earlier expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for what they described as a bold step by the State Government after long agitation.

But tension rose when the state government announced names of newly appointed emirs.
The protesters occupied the road for about 30 minutes, leaving motorists stranded.
They warned the state government against confirming a name circulating on social media as the new Chief of Zaar Chiefdom.
For now, there is no official announcement from the Bauchi State Government on the appointment of the Zaar Chiefdom leader, but all eyes will be on who will emerge as the first traditional ruler of the newly created chiefdom for Zaar ethic group.
