The Bayelsa state Governor Douye Diri, Wednesday presented the sum of four hundred and eighty billion naira as budget estimate for the 2024 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly for consideration and expeditious passage.
The document which is christened ” Budget of Sustenance and Shared Prosperity with Capital Projects consuming the highest of N141 billion, followed by education, N49.8 naira, Governor Douye Diri says it is designed to fund critical projects and bring about an improved standard of living for all in the state.
It is the last budget for the first tenure of Governor Douye Diri’s office.
The presentation is coming just three weeks ago when Governor Diri was re-elected for a second term in office.
Before giving a breakdown of the budget estimate for the 2024 fiscal year, the Governor reviews the performance of the 2023 budget, noting that the implementation saw significant success.
Tagged budget of “Sustenance and shared prosperity” the estimate of N480 billion has capital and planning expenditure gulping 53.59%) while recurrent expenditure (46.41%).
