Bayelsa state Governor, Senator Douye Diri has raised alarm over a security breach in Nembe council area of the state where he alleged that supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party are not being allowed to cast their votes by supporters of the main opposition party, the APC, as he called on the security agents to ensure the issue is resolved.
Governor Diri spoke shortly after casting his vote in polling unit 4, Kalama-owie in Sampou community in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA where he commended the efforts of the electoral umpire for the early arrival of materials and successful accreditation and voting.

He described the election so far as seamless in Sampou, calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to sustain the tempo across the state.

INEC officials and election materials arrived at units 3 and 4 in Kalamaowei, Sampou at 7:53 am while accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously at 8:30 am

There was also heavy security presence in the areas but farther from the polling boots to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
