Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, says his government feels the pain and sufferings of communities and individuals affected by the ravaging flood in the state.

At the weekly executive council meeting Wednesday in government house, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa governor also assured that the government will give top priority to alleviating the sufferings of victims.

Flood waters have continued to claim more communities in Bayelsa state.

Many towns and homes including Yenagoa the state capital are now a shadow of what they use to be as the unfortunate perennial disaster has crippled social and economic activities.

Governor Diri is saddened at the impact of the 2022 flood which by indication shows that by comparison, might be worse than that of 2012.

The governor equally wants the federal government to work out a permanent solution to the flood by considering the construction of more dams to contain the waters.

Diri appealed to well-meaning citizens of the state to also come to the aid of victims of the disaster to ameliorate their sufferings
