Hundreds of families in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State have been sacked by flood water which overflowed from River Niger, through the creeks and forest to communities such as Biseni, Tombia and Akenfa.

The victims who have been forced to flee their homes described the situation as dire and called for support from state and federal governments, as well as charitable organizations as the flood water rises daily.

Among the affected communities is Biseni which is often the first port of call for the perennial flood which over the years has become a source of worry to people of the state.

Many are now forced to set up temporary shelters on the road.
