As the ravaging flood continues to wreak havoc in communities in Bayelsa state, Otuoke, which is the hometown of Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan, and the host community of a federal university, has been submerged, including the property of Goodluck Jonathan with most of the locals displaced.

Governor Douye Diri who visited the area lamented the degree of destruction caused by the flood across communities in Bayelsa state, describing it as an “attack by the natural disaster” on the livelihood of Bayelsans.

In continuation of his assessment of the flood situation in Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri was in Otuoke, the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Life in the area has become even tougher as the locals sourced more avenues for survival.

The residents of former president Goodluck Jonathan and his mother Eunice Jonathan’s homes were not spared by the disaster.

Governor Diri also visited the mother of the former president and assured her that the state government was with her and the people of Otuoke.
