A genuine practice of justice and equity, is what Nigeria needs to curb insecurity and foster peace and national integration.

The Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri said this when he hosted the visiting President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, in Yenagoa as the leadership of the labour union came to appeal to the Governor, to use his good office to mediate in the challenges facing the country.

It was the first visit of the national leadership of organised labour to governor Douye Diri, since he assumed office.

Governor Diri on his part, stressed the importance of industrial harmony, which he desires to maintain.

Aside from labour matters, the hydra headed security challenges in the country and how to end the clamour for disintegration were also discussed.

The climax of the visit was the presentation of an Outstanding Leadership Award to Senator Diri, in recognition of his commitment to the welfare of the health workers, by the Joint Health Sector Unions and the Assembly of Healthcare Professionals.

An award was also presented to the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo by the NLC, for his contribution to the development of labour movement in Nigeria.
