The media must be an active partner in promoting peace, sensitizing and reorientating the masses on the need to be self sufficient as well as take charge of the local economy.
This was the message of Governor Douye Diri at a parley with heads of media stations and journalists in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State captal
The parley between Governor Douye Diri and journalists as well as heads of media stations in Bayelsa state was to commend the media for their support, partnership and also to keep them abreast of government’s policies and programmes.
Governor Diri charged the media being the watch dog of the society to continue to engage government through positive criticism and reportage so as to keep the leaders on track.

A shop list was also presented by the State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists which the Governor responded positively to.
The Bayelsa Chief executive also directed that the Diriboost scheme, an agricultural empowerment programme for Bayelsans, be extended to media practitioners in the state.
