In the bid to expedite action and sustain the progress made in the age-ong intra-communal crisis in Nembe Bassambiri in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state, Governor Douye Diri has directed the Steering Committee set up by his administration to take over the leadership of the community and also extended their tenure by four months.
The Governor gave the directive at a meeting with members of the Steering Committee, during the Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Yenagoa when he received the committee’s report after the expiration of the initial six months tenure. This will include the Committee managing funds accruing to the community to provide essential services for the people.
There appears to be an end in sight to the protracted intra-communal crisis in Nembe Bassambiri.
Inaugurated on September 10, 2024, the 11-member Steering Committee headed by retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Victor Ombu were in the Executive Council Chamber to submit the report of their findings, challenges, successes and recommendations
In another development, Governor Diri received beneficiaries of the agricultural training programme in Ogun state, sponsored by the State Government, aimed at encouraging greenhouse farming in Bayelsa State.
Diri promised a rolling programme for other youths in the state with the assurance of enhancing food sufficiency in the state.
