Bayelsa Task Force on flood distributes relief items to IDP camps

The Bayelsa state government has assured its citizens affected by the flood of sufficient food items and other palliatives that have been procured to help in reducing the hardship they were currently facing due to the prevailing flood disaster.

The state task force on flood mitigation and management made this known during its routine exercise to eleven private internally displaced persons camps and the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of journalists in Yenagoa to distribute food items and other relief items.

Trucks loaded with food items took off from the warehouse to the various privately established IDP Camps for distribution.

The committee made a stopover at the secretariat of the Bayelsa state chapter of the NUJ to show concern to members of the pen fraternity who were victims of the flood.

Across Yenagoa metropolis were some private camps are situated, the committee was eager to ensure that all victims of the flood were well taken care of, whether in private or government-established camps.

They later moved to Ogu, Azikoro town, Saint Peter’s primary school, and Saint Mattias Catholic church among other camps where food items and water were distributed to those taking shelter in the camps.

The flood committee later rounded off the day’s job at the women affairs quarters where they interacted with people with disabilities.

The distribution of food and other relief items to flood victims in the state is expected to continue in the coming days.
