Bayelsa United have emerge winner of the Governor Douye Diri Pre- season Football Tournament that featured seven clubs and an amateur team.
Bayelsa state Governor, Douye Diri, represented by the state Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who watched the final that saw Bayelsa United edged Bendel Insurance 7-6 on penalties emphasized the Governor’s resolve to sustain investment in sports development
It’s the final of the Governor Douye Diri Pre-season Football Tournament.
The host Bayelsa United and Bendel Insurance of Benin are the two teams jostling for the position to emerge champions of the maiden edition.

Bayelsa United got the lead from a corner kick through defender Saro Loveday twenty eight minutes into the game but the excitement was short lived in less than two minutes as the boys from the ancient city of Benin level scores from a close range finish.

In the second half, both sides fired blank and the game heads straight to penalties which saw the Prosperity boys triumphed 7- 6 to emerge Champions.
Earlier, Akwa United had won the third place match with a four two penalty victory over Kwara United.
