Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin has gained promotion back to the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL after securing a two nil win over Ikorodu FC at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
With two matches left to play in the Nigeria National League, Bendel Insurance moved to the NPFL with the second half goals scored by Deputy Echeta and Imade Osahenkhoe in the fifty third and sixty eighth minutes of the game.
The promotion had already been secured before kick off of the match after their closest rival, Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta lost to Vandrezzer FC earlier in the day’s matches.
Reacting to the victory and subsequent promotion to the NPFL from the NNL, Acting Governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu commended the Management and Players of the Team for keeping faith and maintaining steady wins.
Bendel Insurance now leads the group B1 of the Nigeria National League with forty points.
