A Benue State High Court sitting in Makurdi has granted an interim injunction restraining the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from replacing or suspending members of the Benue State Working Committee led by Augustine Agada.

The injunction also hinders the party National Executives from tempering with the four-year tenure of the members pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.

Agada has had a running battle as his position was threatened following a battle for supremacy between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and the State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

Subsequently a faction led by the former State Welfare Officer, Benjamin Omakolo as Acting Chairman emerged.

Agada approached the court seeking order of the court to stop the, APC from terminating his tenure before the expiration of his 4 year term office.

Granting the motion, Justice Theresa Igoche restrained the leadership of the APC , it’s agents, staff, representatives, or whomsoever however described, from removing, changing, replacing or howsoever terminating the tenure of the applicants and other members of the Benue State Working Committee of the APC until the expiration of their four year term in office pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Igoche adjourned the case to 28/08/2024 for hearing of the Motion on Notice.

Reacting to the development, Agada extolled the judiciary as the hope of the common man and urged all party members to remain steadfast as the party prepared for its primary elections this Saturday.
