Following the suspected outbreak of orepa syndrome which led to the closure of Vaatia college in Makurdi the Benue State capital with about 9 students affected, authorities of the school say investigations have commenced to uncover the cause of the strange illness.
A statement by the Principal of the school Taver Vaatia says a sub committee made up of pediatricians and neurologists has been put together to investigate the cause of the illness
In the interim the college will continue learning online so that students are not behind schedule.
According to the school head, a critical look at the history of affected students dates as far back as 2017,with the next occuring 2 years after then recently when 9 students at a time complained of shaky legs and difficulty in walking.
4 reportedly recovered shortly after they were picked by their parents.

Any students who experience difficulty in walking are hereby adviced to immediately notify the school authorities.
The school however remains closed to students to allow for a thorough investigation and implementation of the recommendations of the medical advisory committee.
