The Nigerian Government has been asked to take deliberate steps to an end open grazing if it is serious about stopping the recurring attacks in parts of Plateau State and the north central
The Paramount Ruler of the Irigwe Nation in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state, Ronku Aka, said this during the burial of seven persons killed by unknown gunmen in the community.
Irigwe people in Bassa Local Government Area are once again in mourning following the killing of seven members of the community including a 10-year-old child in fresh overnight attacks.
As family members and sympathisers gathered amid tears and grief to bid farewell to the victims, they condemned what they described as persistent and unprovoked assaults on their communities.

The grief among the people quickly gave way to anger, as many of them expressed frustration over what they see as repeated security breaches despite assurances of protection.
The Paramount Ruler of the Irigwe Nation, Ronku Aka said his people have remained peaceful but can no longer endure the continued loss of lives hence his repeated calls on the Federal Government to ban open grazing, which he described as a major cause of the recurring violence.
There were also calls on the Special Task Force, Operation enduring peace, to review and strengthen its operational strategies to ensure better protection for vulnerable communities.
