The Benue State Executive Council has approved the establishment of an additional ministry in the State. It is the ministry of maritime and blue economy.
State commissioner for information, culture and tourism Mathew Abo disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State executive council meeting held at the Government House Makurdi.
State Commissioner for information, culture and Tourism Matthew Abo alongside his counterpart from the ministry of Health Yanmar Ortese who disclosed decisions reached at the 10th State Executive council meeting said the 2 day meeting centred mainly on follow ups from previous sessions with 3 main issues taking prominence.
Aboh said a key presentation on the report by the agricultural inputs verification committee was made with another committee constituted to produce a white paper to guide the implementation of the reports recommendations.

Council equally approved the implementation of the consolidated medical salaries and clinical duty allowances for Staff of the State university teaching hospital and other health workers in the State.
Commissioner for Health and Human services Yanmar Ortese provides further clarification noting that the migration of health workers also referred to as the “Japa syndrome ” has cost the sector a huge shortage of manpower necessitating the implementation of the consolidated medical salaries for all health workers in the State.
The decisions reached are aimed at strengthening the agricultural and health sectors as well as expand the State’s economic base.
