As part of measures to provide rapid responses to security threats in the state, the Benue State Government has officially launched an Internal Quick Response Squad QRS which comprises of personnel from the Vigilante Group, Forest Guards, and Civil Protection Guards.
Deputy Governor Sam Ode who launched the outfit in Makurdi the State capital said they would work in collaboration with existing conventional security agencies to address the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality that have plagued the state.
Ode emphasised the need for absolute loyalty from the squad and urged them to also cooperate with established security structures.

The Deputy commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps described the initiative as timely as it will boost intelligence gathering and reinforce conventional security efforts.
Rapid communications hotlines for quick response were made available to the general public.
