The year 2021 promises to end on a high sports note for the people of Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
This follows the kick-off of the Silver Jubilee Cup football competition ahead of the 25th anniversary of the local government that was created on December 8, 1996 by the military administration of the late General Sani Abacha.
Sponsor of the competition and Nigeria’s development journalist who is an indigene of the area, Terverr Tyav Aboh says after 25 years it is time to promote the unity of the people and unite them for the future that is full of potentials.
Tyav said the though he is interested in the Gboko-Tarka Federal Constituency seat in 2023, the competition is not to promote his ambition but to unite the people from all political divides behind the unity, peace and development of the local government.
Chairman of the Local Government, Mrs. Juliana Suswam Suemo represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Youths and Sports, Silas Tarnongu Terver commended Tyav for investing in the competition that should have been an initiative of the Council.
Pioneer Sole Administrator of the Council, Dr. John Allagh and another former chairman, Phelim Ukeyima Manger along with his wife were among the fans who watched the opening match between Ankunguiyol FC of Asukunya and Nativitas FC of Tarhembe.
