The Benue State GovernorOrtom has appealed to indigenes of Benue State, especially those in the diaspora to support the Government in providing support to the Community Volunteer Guards and other security agencies in the State to enhance their operations.
Governor Ortom made the appeal at the Government House, Makurdi while presenting vehicles and motorcycles to community volunteer Guards, livestock Guards, and some traditional rulers.
They include 23 utility vehicles and 460 Motorcycles for the Community Volunteer Guards, 2 security vehicles and 30 motorcycles for the Livestock Guards and 279 motorcycles for district and clan heads.
Improving security has become a major priority for the Governor Ortom-led administration.
The chief security officer highlighted some of the successes recorded in the area of security with the aid of the recently inaugurated State-owned security outfit.
He intends to recruit much more personnel, though he would prefer the establishment of State police.
Ortom urged residents to continue to support security personnel to curb insecurity sufficiently.
