Benue State Governor,Hyacinth Alia

The People’s Democratic Party PDP Benue State chapter has accused the State Governor Hyacinth Alia of suspending the constitutional rule in the State, particularly in the award of contracts running into billions of naira without approvals from the State Executive Council since he is yet to constitute his cabinet.

State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Bemgba Lortyom insists that the State Governor’s spending limits in respect of contracts shall not exceed the sum of 50 million naira.

The news of the official flag off of 16 roads by the Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has been received with mixed feelings by the residents, the main opposition party in the State sees the move as a violation of the State’s financial instructions.

Same for an earlier contract awarded by the Governor for the renovation of the State House of Assembly complex.

The opposition party is also concerned that over 70 days in office the Governor is yet to constitute his cabinet and has ensured that all financial accounts of the State Government are frozen with the Governor alone making withdrawals.

The party solicited the support of all men of good conscience to rise and resist with every legal means the danger looming over the State.
