About 9,000 energy consumers in Benue State, north-central Nigeria, are to benefit from the first phase of the National mass metering programme initiated by the Federal Government.
The Regional Manager Jos Electricity Distribution Company, Olaniyi Ogunmakinwa, said in Makurdi that the first out of the 5 phases is nearly completed.
He said that Electricity consumption varies in terms of usage yet some consumers could get over billed while others may not; the difference here is the type of billing system used.
The regional manager said that to put an end to this controversy the meter rollout scheme targeted at completely phasing out the analog meter, is currently ongoing across the country but at ground zero level in Benue State.
He equally cleared the air on yet another controversy regarding consumers paying for the new meters saying if the distribution goes as planned the post-paid meters will be completely eradicated and so will its widely kicked against the estimated billing system.
