The Benue State Government has denied claims by one Yaaya Godwin Terver, founder of Alpha Security Company, regarding the approval of personnel recruitment into the company across the state’s 23 local government areas.
A statement by the Special Adviser on the Governor on Security and Internal Affairs Joseph Har, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.
The statement says during a Security Council meeting held on October 20, 2023, the state government resolved to check the proliferation of non-conventional security outfits, after which all such organizations were mandated to operate under the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG), now renamed the Benue State Civil Protection Guards (BSCPG).

The government also says no approval had been granted for Alpy Security Company’s recruitment and urged the public to disregard such claims.
The Security Adviser also directed that the recruitment exercise be discontinued immediately, describing any continuation of the unauthorized recruitment resulting in all involved personnel being treated as militia members.
