The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, electoral panels for its primaries to be firm but ensure that the process is free, fair and transparent.
The Governor gave the charge while addressing members of the legislative panels, made up of principally Government appointees at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi.
Primaries for elective position on the platform of the country’s main opposition party finally takes off with the State assembly and house of representatives taking the lead.
Leader of the party in the North central region Governor Samuel Ortom was at the State secretariat to lay down some ground rules which should be adopted.

He urged officials to work closely with security operatives to avoid any compromise to credibility of the process.
According to the chairman of the party John Ngbede, members of the party’s electoral panel were carefully selected in line with the provisions of the electoral act.
