KC Gaming Networks Limited (Bet9ja) has issued an official statement addressing the recent shutdown of its betting shops across Enugu State by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission.
What Happened
On February 9, 2026, the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission closed all Bet9ja shops in Enugu State following an ex-parte court order granted by Justice H.O. Eya of the High Court of Enugu State on February 3, 2026 (Suit No. 6/54/2025).
Bet9ja’s Position
In their official statement signed by MD/CEO Dr. Ayo Ojuroye, KC Gaming Networks Limited maintains that:
- The company owes no legitimate fees, levies, taxes, or outstanding payments to the Enugu State Government
- Bet9ja has been a model corporate entity, consistently paying required fees and taxes on time over its 12+ years of operations in Enugu State
- No taxes, license fees, or Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) remittances are outstanding
- Multiple engagements with the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission and Enugu State Internal Revenue Service have failed to resolve the dispute
Company’s Stance
Bet9ja emphasized that it “will not be stampeded into paying levies/taxes it does not generate from Enugu State” and is committed to resolving the matter through legal channels at the High Court of Enugu State.
The company assured its agents, partners, and the public that it will continue to follow due process to ensure the closures are reversed and justice prevails.
