Betsy Obaseki Football Tournament opens in Benin

The Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament has officially commenced in Benin City with thirteen teams competing for victory.
The opening ceremony which held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium was witnessed by State Government officials and sports enthusiasts.

Wife of Edo State Governor Betsy Obaseki declared the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament open at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City which is the second in the series of a competition aimed at impacting positively on the lives of young women.

Thirteen teams will be participating in the football tournament which has as its theme; say no to drugs.
They will be competing for a cash prize of five million naira, two point five and one point five million naira respectively allotted for the first, second and third positions.
Consolation prizes will also be given to all teams involved in the tournament.

The match between the host team of the games, Edo Queens and Royaltoms Football club commenced immediately after the official opening ceremony.

The match ended in a nine – nil victory for Edo Queens.
