The Kebbi State Government has offered scholarships to the kidnapped and rescued girls of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri.
State Governor, Nasir Idris made lthis known while receiving a Turkish delegation from Nigeria/TUILP International College, who paid him a courtesy in Birnin KebbI.

The governor said the girls would be offered scholarship to enable them actualise their dreams in various fields of endeavours.

He pledged to partner with the Turkish organisation to develop education, health and youth empowerment, adding that he had been monitoring the activities of the organisation for some time and found them to be sincere and upright.

Governor Idris appealed to the people of the state to give the Turkish organisation maximum support and cooperation towards moving the state forward.
The leader of the visiting team, Yasar Ovenc, assured the governor of their readiness to work with the state government in promoting education, health and youth empowerment.
He requested for the names of the kidnapped Yauri schoolgirls and promised to be part of the scholarship plan.

On June 17, 2021 a gang of bandits stormed Federal Government College Birnin Yauri and abducted both male and female students of the school and two of their teachers.
The female captives spent more than a year in the kidnappers den before they finally gained their freedom after concerted efforts by government and students parents.
