Youths in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, have embarked on a peaceful protest over the arrest and detention of their monarch, Ishaku Komo and others by the Bauchi State Police Command.

The protesters are women and youths carrying placards and leaves, demanding the release of their monarch, who is popularly addressed as Gung Zaar-select, who was alleged to have been arrested, in connection with a recent communal clash in Sang community, which claimed the lives of over 75 persons, houses razed and other properties worth millions of Naira destroyed.

The incident was said to have emanated from the coronation of a Hamlet Head of Sang Community, alleged to have been performed by the Selected Gung Zaar, Ishaku Komo.
A source in Tafawa Balewa town said, so far the Express Road linking Bauchi State with Plateau at that axis has been blocked by the youths, in a peaceful protest, over the continued detention of the monarch.

However, a press statement issued by the Bauchi State Police Command, through its spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, debunked viral reports in some portions of the media, that the arrest of the traditional leader is the handiwork of some prominent Bauchi and Northern Governors.

According to the statement, so far, seven people, including the traditional leader, Ishaku Komo, have been arrested by the Bauchi Police for investigation.
