Leader of Nigerian terrorist group, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has reportedly died in fatal clash between his men and those of Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP.
Report says ISWAP, a splinter group of Boko Haram, that has grown in power and influence since it started operating from its territorial base on the banks and islands of Lake Chad has now occupied some section of Sambisa Forest following the latest development.
The reports say that the ISWAP fighters surrounded the Boko Haram leader with his team and shooting ensued between the two groups. The report further added that Shekau detonated a bomb and killed himself when he observed that the ISWAP fighters wanted to capture him alive. The two sides also lost some fighters during the shootout.

This is not the first time Abubakar Shekau is said to have been reportedly killed but on each occasion, he re-emerges to debunk the reports.
Meanwhile, a report says the Nigerian military has placed all commands of the Nigerian Army and Airforce in Borno State on alert.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Army spokesperson to comment, proved abortive as he was not picking up his calls.
