The sources said that Ali Ngulde and Muke however escaped the airstrikes, while scores of his fighters met their waterloo.

The coordinated joint air and ground offensive came barely hours after similar strikes were carried out on the ISWAP convoy between Aulam and Kafa, killing unconfirmed numbers of the terrorists and destroying two of their trucks.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Isiaka Amao, has launched an intensive offensive air operation nicknamed “Operation Warun 3, across all the theatres of operation with the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai as the main focus.

The aim is to soften grounds for the surface forces to exploit with a view to facilitating the speedy killing of terrorists and bandits across the country.
