The Plateau state government is to conduct an enumeration of farmers in order to have a database of all farmers in the state. This ,government believes will enable them, understand the challenges facing farmers in the state and areas it could also support them.
The state commissioner for agriculture made this known during a ministerial briefing held in Jos, the state capital.
A large chunk of citizens of Plateau State are engaged in one type of agricultural practice or another; however, access to support from the government is either inadequate or nonexistent. All this is about to change as the Caleb Mutfwang’s administration is putting in place measures that will bring the farmers closer to the government.
The government is also introducing programmes that would encourage youths participation in agriculture as well as add value to agricultural produce.
Other ministries at the briefing were those of information, higher education, urban development, budget, and planning, where they also reeled out their achievements in the past 12 months.
Since the swearing in of Governor Caleb Mutfwang as governor of Plateau State, the government has constantly engaged with the press in order to keep members of the public abreast of developments in the state.
