The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandep, says her visit to Kebbi State was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide timely solutions to the myriad challenges at the borders.
Kemi Nandep said this when she paid a courtesy call on the State Governor, Nadir Idris, at the Government House in Birninkebbi.
She said she was in the State for an on-the-spot assessment of the needs of the officers and men of the service.
The Comptroller General described irregular migration, transborder crimes, and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons as major challenges.
Nandep described Kebbi State as very stratified, as it harbours three international borders.
Kebbi State Governor Nadir Idris, approved the inclusion of NIS in the state’s Security Committee.
Nasir added that his administration belongs to everybody, and would stop at nothing to make all categories of workers in the state secure and comfortable.
The governor also pledged sustained support to the personnel of the service, to enable them discharge their constitutional duties across the state.
He also promised to assist the NIS in the planned establishment of its National Training Institute in the state.
He congratulated the C-G on her appoinment, noting that, “President Bola Tinubu is meticulous in appointing Chief Execute Officers, and I am confident that you will live above board and succeed.”
