The Borgu Kingdom in Niger State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ordering the clearance of bushes along the Ibbi–New Bussa road to tackle rising insecurity in the area.
The move follows sustained appeals by residents over persistent attacks and criminal activities along the corridor.
In a statement, community leader, Murtala Haliru Dantoro, described the road as a “corridor of fear” long exploited by criminal elements, disrupting livelihoods and threatening peace.
He praised the President for responding to the concerns of the people and also lauded the Niger State Government for swiftly implementing the directive.
While welcoming the intervention, Dantoro stressed that more ungoverned areas across the Borgu Emirate still require urgent security attention, calling for sustained deployment of security forces to ensure lasting peace.
He added that the development reflects the power of collective advocacy, noting that the voices and resilience of the people of Borgu have not gone unheard.
The clearance operation is expected to boost public confidence, revive economic activities, and reduce criminal threats along the route.
